Follow the normal maintenance schedule if the vehicle is normally operated under any of the following conditions. If any of the following conditions apply, perform Severe Duty Maintenance.

  • Frequent short trips of less than 8 km (5 miles) in normal temperatures or less than 16 km (10 miles) in freezing temperatures
  • Extended engine idling or low-speed driving over long distances
  • Driving on rough, dusty, muddy, unpaved, gravel, or salt-treated roads
  • Driving in areas using salt or other corrosive materials, or in very cold weather
  • Driving in severely dusty conditions
  • Driving in heavy stop-and-go traffic
  • Repeated driving uphill, downhill, or on mountainous roads
  • Towing a trailer, or using a camper or roof rack
  • Driving as a police vehicle, taxi, or other commercial use, or towing vehicles
  • Driving at speeds over 170 km/h
  • Frequent driving in stop-and-go conditions

If your vehicle is operated under any of the above conditions, have the maintenance items checked, replaced, or refilled more often than indicated in the following normal maintenance schedule. After the periods or distances shown in the table, continue to perform the maintenance at the prescribed intervals.
