Engine Oil
Checking the Engine Oil Level

■ Nu 2 L MPI Engine (Gasoline)

■ Gamma 1.6 L T-GDI Engine (Gasoline)
1. Make sure the vehicle is on level ground.
2. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.
3. Turn off the engine and wait several minutes (about 5 minutes) for the oil to return to the oil pan.
4. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it fully.
CAUTION - Radiator Hose
Be very careful not to touch the radiator hose when checking or adding engine oil, as it may be hot enough to burn you.
5. Pull out the dipstick again and check the level. The level must be between F and L.
CAUTION - Engine Oil Replacement
Do not overfill the engine oil. This may damage the engine.

If the level is near or at L, add enough oil to bring the level up to F. Do not overfill.
Use a funnel to prevent oil from contacting engine components.
Use only the specified engine oil. (Refer to "Recommended Lubricants and Capacities" in Chapter 8.)
Engine Oil and Filter Replacement
Have the engine oil and filter replaced by an authorized Kia dealer according to the Maintenance Schedule at the beginning of this chapter.

Used engine oil may cause skin irritation or skin cancer if left in contact with the skin for prolonged periods. Always protect your skin, and thoroughly wash your hands with soap and warm water as soon as possible after handling used oil.
