Fuses

The vehicle's electrical system is protected from damage caused by electrical overload by fuses.
This vehicle has 2 (or 3) fuse panels: one is located on the driver's side instrument panel (under the dashboard), and the other is in the engine compartment near the battery.
If any headlamp, accessory, or control on your vehicle does not work, check the corresponding circuit fuse. If the fuse is blown, the element inside the fuse will have melted.
If the electrical system does not work, first check the driver's side fuse panel.
If a replacement fuse blows again, this indicates a problem in the electrical system. Avoid using the affected system and consult an authorized Kia dealer immediately.
Three types of fuses are used: blade type for lower current ratings, cartridge type, and multi-fuse for higher current ratings.
WARNING - Fuse Replacement
- Never replace a fuse with anything other than a fuse of the same rating.
- A fuse with a higher rating may cause damage and possibly fire.
- Never install wire or aluminum foil in place of the correct fuse, even as a temporary repair. This may cause extensive wiring damage and a possible fire.
- Do not arbitrarily modify or add electrical wiring to the vehicle.
CAUTION
Do not use a screwdriver or any other metal object to remove fuses, as this may cause a short circuit and damage the system.
✽ NOTICE
- When replacing a fuse, turn the ignition to "OFF", switch off all electrical devices, and then disconnect the (-) battery terminal.
- The actual fuse/relay panel label may differ from the equipped items.
WARNING - Electrical Fire
Always make sure fuses and relays are securely seated when installing them. Failure to do so may cause the vehicle to catch fire.
CAUTION
- When replacing a blown fuse or relay, make sure the new fuse or relay fits securely in the clips. Failure to fully seat the fuse or relay may result in damage to the wiring and electrical system.
- Do not remove fuses, relays, and terminals secured by bolts or nuts. Fuses, relays, and terminals may not be secured properly, which may cause damage to the vehicle.
CAUTION
- Do not insert any other objects, such as a screwdriver or wire, into the fuse/relay terminals except fuses or relays.
- Do not insert screwdrivers or aftermarket wiring into terminals intended only for fuses and relays. The electrical system and cabin wiring may be damaged or burned due to contact failure.
- If you connect wiring directly to the rear lamp or replace a bulb in the adjustable trailer hitch area, etc., the internal junction block may burn out.
CAUTION
Visually inspect the battery cover to make sure it is securely closed. If the battery cover is not closed tightly, moisture may enter the system and damage electrical components.
WARNING - Electrical Wiring Repair
All electrical work must be performed by an authorized Kia dealer using Kia-approved parts. Using other wiring components, especially when modifying the infotainment system or security alarm system, remote engine control unit, car telephone, or radio may cause vehicle damage and increase the risk of vehicle fire.
✽ CAUTION - Modifications Prohibited
Never modify your vehicle's electrical wiring, as this may affect the performance of several safety features in your vehicle. Reprogramming your vehicle may also void the warranty and make you liable for any subsequent vehicle damage that may result.
✽ CAUTION - Precautions for Window Tinting
Window tinting (especially metallic film) may cause communication errors or poor radio reception, as well as malfunction of the automatic lighting system due to reflections from the mirror-like tint inside the vehicle. Tinting solution used for installation may also seep into electronic components, causing malfunctions or damage.
