Record Your Key Number

The key code number is stamped on the key code tag attached to the key set. If you lose your keys, this number will allow an authorized Kia dealer to duplicate the keys easily. Remove the key code tag and store it in a safe place. Also record the key code number and keep it in a safe and convenient place, but not in the vehicle.

WARNING - Aftermarket Keys

Use only genuine Kia parts for the ignition key in your vehicle. If a non-genuine key is used, the ignition switch may not return to the ON position after START. If this happens, the starter motor keeps running, which may cause a fire due to excessive current in the wiring.

Key Operations

Folding Key

■ Folding Key

To extend the key, press the release button, and the key will extend automatically.

To fold the key, fold it manually while pressing the release button.

CAUTION - Key Operation

Do not fold the key without pressing the release button. This may damage the key.

Smart Key

■ Smart Key

To remove the mechanical key, press and hold the release button and pull out the mechanical key.

To reinstall the mechanical key, insert the key into the hole and push it in until a click is heard.

CAUTION - Ignition Key (Smart Key)

Never leave keys in the vehicle with children unattended. Leaving children unattended in a vehicle with a mechanical ignition key or smart key is dangerous.

Children imitate adults and may insert the key into the ignition switch or press the START button. The key allows children to operate power windows or other controls, or even set the vehicle in motion, which may result in serious injury or death.
