Operation

Power Window Anti-Pinch Function. When the auto up switch of all door windows (front, rear) is pressed, the safety function is activated.
  1. Anti-Pinch Function Status. When a force of 100 N is detected while the window is closing, the window reverses.
  2. Window reverse distance (except when holding the auto-up switch)
    • When a pinch is detected 4–250 mm from the top of the door, the window reverses to 300 mm from the top of the door.
    • When a pinch is detected more than 250 mm from the top of the door: the window reverses to 50 mm from the pinch position. The window reverses 50 mm or moves to the fully down position in the case of a 50 mm reverse distance.
    • When a pinch is detected more than 300 mm from the top of the door: the window stops at the reverse point.
  3. Window reverse distance (holding the auto-up switch)
    • When a jam is detected while holding the auto up switch: the window reverses to 25 mm from the pinch position.
    • Auto-up function is not available for 5 seconds after the above condition. > When the auto-up switch is held, the window operates as manual up. (Safety function is not activated.)
    • When a jam is detected while holding the auto up switch again: the window reverses to 25 mm from the pinch position.
    • 5 seconds after the above condition, when the auto-up switch is held, the window reverses to 25 mm from the pinch position.
  4. Safety function not available. The safety function is not available within 4 mm from the top of the door.
Initialization (Learning) After power reset or when a malfunction is detected, the motor must be initialized in the fully closed position. How to initialize:
  • Move the window up to the fully closed position. When the window reaches the fully closed position, hold the power window switch in the UP position for T?2 seconds. If the unit is recognized, the system status becomes initialized.
Recall and Storage of Initialization (Learning) Information The ECU stores initialization information in the designated area of flash memory. (valid while Flash ROM page is retained)
  • Storage Conditions: Enter sleep mode after a valid switch input. Enter low voltage (7.5 V) after a valid switch input.
  • Recall Conditions: Engine=ON or Power ON reset
Deinitialization (Memory Reset) Under the following conditions, the ECU enters the deinitialized state. After deinitialization, the auto-up and safety functions will not operate. To reactivate these functions, the ECU must go through the initialization process.
  • Deinitialization Conditions:
  1. Continuous 15 reversals
  2. Power interruption while the engine is running
  3. Driver door open, window glass lowered (hard stop position), ignition ON, ignition OFF for 2 seconds, ignition ON, press the manual switch down 3 times within 5 seconds > Deinitialization
Door and Glass Status IGN Status Input Time IGN Status Switch Input Status Switch Input Time Initialization Status
Re-input Time IGN Status Switch Input
Driver door open, window glass lowered with ignition ON (hard stop) Ignition off T?2 sec Ignition ON T?5 sec Ignition ON Press and release the manual switch down 3 times Deinitialization

Window Position Control Hall sensors are used to detect the window position and motor rotation direction. The ECU recognizes the fully closed window position and sets this relative window position value as "0". When the window moves down, the relative position value increases based on information from the Hall sensor. Conversely, when the window moves up, it decreases. Thermal Protection Thermal protection is implemented by a software module to prevent motor damage under overload conditions. Motor temperature is estimated by integrating the square of the motor current as an estimate of the heating power integral. When the estimated motor temperature exceeds the programmable upper limit in EEPROM, the motor is deactivated for a fixed delay time (default = 30 sec.). Thermal shutdown during window operation does not interrupt operation for safety reasons. Operation Time Limiter The maximum operating time of the power window motor is limited to 15 seconds (programmable in EEPROM).
