Jacking Instructions
The Kia Sorento jack is intended for emergency tire changes only.
To prevent the jack from rattling while the vehicle is moving, store it properly.
Follow the jacking instructions to reduce the risk of injury.
WARNING - Tire Replacement
- Never attempt to service the vehicle on the lanes of public roads or highways.
- Always move the vehicle completely off the road onto the shoulder before attempting to change a tire. The Kia Sorento jack should be used on a hard, level surface. If you cannot find a hard, level place off the road, call a towing service for assistance.
- Make sure you use the correct front and rear jacking positions on the vehicle; never use the bumpers or any other part of the vehicle as a jacking point.
- The vehicle may easily slip off the jack, resulting in serious injury or death. No one should place any part of their body under a vehicle that is supported only by a jack; use vehicle stands.
- Do not start or run the engine while the vehicle is supported by the jack.
- Do not allow anyone to remain in the vehicle while it is supported by the jack.
- Make sure all children present are in a safe place away from the road and the vehicle being raised with the jack.
Removing and Storing the Spare Tire

Your spare tire is stored under the vehicle, directly below the luggage compartment.
To remove the spare tire:
1. Open the tailgate.
2. Locate the hex bolt cover and fold the cover back.

3. Attach the socket and wheel nut wrench.
4. Using the wheel nut wrench, loosen the bolt just enough to lower the spare tire.
Turn the wrench counterclockwise until the spare tire touches the ground.

5. After the spare tire touches the ground, continue turning the wrench counterclockwise and pull the spare tire out. Never turn the wrench too far, otherwise the spare tire holder may be damaged.
6. Remove the retainer (1) from the center of the spare tire.

To store the spare tire:
1. Place the tire on the ground with the valve stem facing up.
2. Place the wheel under the vehicle and install the retainer (1) through the center of the wheel.
3. Turn the wrench clockwise until it clicks.
WARNING
Make sure the spare tire carrier is properly aligned with the center of the spare tire so that the spare tire does not rattle. Otherwise, the spare tire may fall from the carrier and cause an accident.
