If the Engine Does Not Start
If the engine does not crank or cranks slowly
1. If your vehicle has an automatic transmission, make sure the shift lever is in the N (Neutral) or P (Park) position and the parking brake is applied.
2. Check the battery terminals to make sure they are clean and tight.
3. Turn on the interior light. If the light dims or goes out while cranking the starter, the battery is discharged.
4. Check the starter connections to make sure they are securely tightened.
5. Do not push or tow the vehicle to start it. Refer to the "Jump Starting" instructions.
WARNING
If the engine does not start, do not push or pull the vehicle to start it. This may cause a collision or other damage. In addition, pushing or pulling to start may overload the catalytic converter and create a fire hazard.
If the Engine Cranks Normally but Does Not Start
1. Check the fuel level.
2. With the ignition key in the LOCK position, check all connectors on the ignition coils and spark plugs. Reconnect anything that is disconnected or loose.
3. Check the fuel lines in the engine compartment.
4. If the engine still does not start, contact an authorized Kia dealer or other qualified service assistance.
