Warning Lamp Behavior After Ignition ON

As soon as operating voltage is supplied to the SRSCM ignition input, the SRSCM activates the warning lamp for lamp check. The lamp should illuminate for 6 seconds during the initialization phase and be turned off afterward. However, to indicate to the driver, the warning lamp illuminates for 6 seconds and turns off for 1 second, then remains illuminated continuously after the operating voltage is supplied if any active malfunction is present.
  1. The active fault counter or historical fault counter is greater than or equal to 10.
  2. The normal or historical fault counter is less than 10.
  3. When the ignition is turned on during end-of-line (EOL) variant coding in this mode, the airbag warning lamp illuminates and flashes at 1-second intervals until coding is completed. If variant coding is completed normally, the airbag warning lamp illuminates for 6 seconds and then turns off. Otherwise, the airbag warning lamp continues to flash at 1-second intervals.
    1. If variant coding is completed normally
    2. If variant coding is not completed
If a current malfunction exists in the airbag system or in the internal SRSCM unit, end-of-line (EOL) variant coding cannot be completed. In this case, repeat the EOL variant coding procedure after troubleshooting the malfunction using GDS.
  4. Loss of SRSCM battery power: warning lamp remains on continuously.
  5. Loss of internal operating voltage: warning lamp remains on continuously.
  6. Loss of microprocessor operation: warning lamp remains on continuously.
  7. SRSCM not connected: warning lamp remains on continuously.
Independent Warning Lamp Activation by SRSCM There are certain failure conditions under which the SRSCM cannot operate and therefore cannot control the operation of the standard warning lamp. In these cases, the standard warning lamp is activated directly by the corresponding circuit, which operates independently of the SRSCM. These cases are: Passenger Air Bag Warning Lamp Activation The warning lamp indicates whether the passenger air bag (PAB) is ON or OFF based on the occupant status of the passenger seat. If the passenger seat is empty or occupied only by a child seat, the PAB is turned OFF and the warning lamp illuminates to inform the driver that the PAB is OFF. As soon as operating voltage is supplied to the SRSCM ignition input, the SRSCM activates the warning lamp. The ODS (Occupant Detection System) will send a defect status to the SRSCM as the default setting for air bag deployment of the passenger during the verification period. When the ignition is turned ON, the warning lamp illuminates for 4 seconds and turns off for 3 seconds during the initialization phase, and remains off thereafter until the first valid suppression message is received from the ODS system.
