Description

TPMS Warning Lamp
  • Tire Inflation / Leak Warning
  1. Turn-on condition
    • When tire pressure is below the threshold
    • When the sensor detects a rapid leak.
    • Indicates the tire must be re-inflated to the placard pressure / repaired.
  2. Turn-off condition
    • Under-inflation; when tire pressure is above (warning threshold + hysteresis).
    • Rapid leak; when tire pressure is above (leak warning threshold).
  3. Turn-on condition
    • When the system detects a malfunction that is external to the receiver/sensor.
    • When the system detects a receiver malfunction.
    • When the system detects a sensor malfunction.
  4. Turn-off condition
    • If a malfunction is considered "critical," the lamp remains illuminated for the entire current ignition cycle (even if the DTC has been downgraded). This is because it is important to bring the problem to the driver's attention. In the next ignition cycle, the downgrade conditions will be re-checked. When the downgrade conditions occur, the lamp will turn off. It will remain on until the DTC downgrade check is performed.
    • "Non-critical" malfunctions are those that may occur temporarily, for example, due to low vehicle battery voltage. Therefore, the lamp turns off when the DTC downgrade condition occurs.
Warning Trouble Code
  • When driving at high altitudes, atmospheric pressure naturally decreases. Therefore, check the tire pressure and add air as necessary.
  • Tire pressure may decrease naturally due to a drop in ambient temperature (especially in winter). In this case, inflate the tires to the specified pressure if the warning lamp is on, as this is a natural phenomenon.
System error
  1. General Function
    • The system monitors a number of inputs over time to determine whether a malfunction exists.
    • Malfunctions are ranked according to the most likely cause.
    • Some malfunctions are not covered by DTCs. The main ones are:
    a. Thermal shutdown of sensor (above 257°F/125 °C).
    b. Ignition line stuck; diagnosis requires monitoring the warning lamps with the ignition switched on.
