Description
- Mode
- Commonwealth of Virginia
- In this state, the receiver is shipped as a separate part. Therefore, service parts must arrive in this state.
- In this state, there is no sensor monitoring and no DTC monitoring.
- This state indicates that the platform parameters must be written to the receiver and the sensors are not memorized.
- Normal State
- For the tire inflation and DTC monitoring state, the receiver must be in this state.
- In this state, automatic sensor learning is enabled.
- Test State
- This state is used only at the factory to check RF transmission between the sensor and the receiver.
- Commonwealth of Virginia
- Overview
- Receives RF data from the sensor.
- Uses sensor data to determine whether the TREAD lamp should be turned on.
- Learn the TPMS sensor for automatic under-inflation monitoring.
- Uses sensor information, distance traveled, background noise levels, auto-learn status, short/open circuit output status, vehicle battery charge level, and receiver internal states to determine whether there are system or vehicle malfunctions.
Operation
- General Function
- Auto-learn occurs only once per ignition cycle.
- When successfully completed, 4 wheel sensor IDs are stored in memory for monitoring.
- Until auto-learn is completed, previously learned sensors are monitored for underinflation/leak warnings.
- General conditions for learning new sensors:
- The receiver must determine that it is confident the sensor is not temporary:
a. Uses vehicle speed. b. Uses the confidence level of previously learned sensors. - The typical learning time for a new sensor during continuous driving at a speed greater than 25 km/h is up to 20 minutes.
- General conditions for canceling remote sensor learning:
- This takes less than 20 minutes at a speed of 15.5 mph (25 km/h).
- Confidence reduction depends on the time the vehicle travels at a speed greater than or equal to 20 km/h.
