Description
The Emergency Locking Device (EFD) deploys simultaneously with the belt pretensioner to tighten the seat belt firmly during a collision. It is located near the anchor for the driver and passenger seats to compensate for existing slack. The EFD is supplementary equipment that provides additional protection for the driver and passenger against being thrown forward and tilting toward the anchor during a collision, preventing the seat belts from loosening.
