Emergency Front Belt Fixing Device (EFD) Repair Procedures

Removal

   Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least thirty seconds before starting work.

   To remove the emergency locking device (C), keep pressing the stopper pin (A) in the direction indicated by the arrow. Then remove the seat belt after pressing the stopper pin (B).

   Remove the center pillar lower garnish. (Refer to Body — "Center Pillar Garnish")

   Disconnect the EFD connector (A).

   Loosen the emergency locking device mounting bolt (B) and remove the emergency locking device.

Installation

1. 1
   Remove the ignition key from the vehicle.

   Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least thirty seconds.
3. 3
   Install the emergency locking device using the bolt (B).

   Tightening torque: 39.2 ~ 54 N·m

   Connect the EFD connector (A).

   Install the center pillar lower garnish. (Refer to Body — "Center Pillar Garnish")
6. 6
   Insert the seat belt into the emergency locking retractor (A).

   

   Make sure the stopper pin is connected correctly.

   Connect the negative battery cable.

   After installing the emergency fastening device, check that the system operates correctly:

   • Turn the ignition ON; the SRS indicator should illuminate for approximately six seconds, then turn off.
