Warning Lamp Activation

Warning Lamp Behavior After Ignition ON

Once operating voltage is applied to the SRSCM ignition input, the SRSCM activates the warning lamp for a lamp check. The lamp illuminates for 6 seconds during the initialization phase and then turns off. If there are any active faults after operating voltage is applied, the warning lamp will flash for 6 seconds and turn off for 1 second to alert the driver.
  1. The active fault counter or historical fault counter is greater than or equal to 10.
  2. The normal or historical fault counter is less than 10.
  3. When the ignition is turned on during End-Of-Line (EOL) variant coding, the air bag warning lamp illuminates and flashes periodically at 1 second intervals until coding is complete. After variant coding is successfully completed, the air bag warning lamp illuminates for 6 seconds and then turns off. Otherwise, the air bag warning lamp will flash continuously at 1 second intervals.
    1. If variant coding is completed successfully
    2. If variant coding is not completed
If an active fault is present in the airbag system or an internal SRSCM fault exists, End-of-Line (EOL) variant coding cannot be completed. In this case, repeat the EOL variant coding procedure after troubleshooting with GDS.
  4. Loss of SRSCM battery power: warning lamp remains illuminated
  5. Loss of internal operating voltage: warning lamp remains illuminated
  6. Loss of microprocessor operation: warning lamp remains illuminated
  7. SRSCM not connected: warning lamp remains illuminated via jumper wire
SRSCM Independent Warning Lamp Activation. There are certain failure conditions in which the SRSCM cannot function and therefore cannot control the standard warning lamp. In these cases, the standard warning lamp is activated directly by the corresponding circuit, which operates independently of the SRSCM. These cases include: Warning Lamp Activation The PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp shows whether the passenger air bag (PAB) is enabled or disabled depending on the occupant status of the passenger seat. If the passenger seat is empty or occupied by a child (or child seat), the passenger air bag is disabled and the warning lamp illuminates to inform the driver that the PAB is disabled. As soon as operating voltage is applied to the SRSCM ignition input, the SRSCM activates the warning lamp to perform a check. The ODS (Occupant Detection System) sends an unknown status to the SRSCM as the default setting for passenger air bag deployment during the check period. After the ignition is turned on, the lamp illuminates for 4 seconds and turns off for 3 seconds during the initialization phase, and remains illuminated thereafter until a valid enable message is received from the ODS.
