Seat Belt Pretensioner (BPT) Repair Procedures

Removal

   Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least thirty seconds before starting work.

   To remove the emergency tensioning device (C), keep pressing the stopper pin (A) in the direction of the arrow. Then remove the seat belt after pressing the stopper pin (B).

   Remove the center pillar lower garnish. (Refer to Body — "Center Pillar Garnish")

   Remove the center pillar upper garnish. (Refer to Body — "Center Pillar Garnish")

   After loosening the mounting bolt, remove the front seat belt upper anchor (A).

   Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner connector (A).

   Loosen the seat belt pretensioner mounting bolt (B) and remove the seat belt pretensioner.

Installation

1. 1
   Remove the ignition key from the vehicle.

   Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least thirty seconds.
3. 3
   Install the seat belt pretensioner using the bolt (B).

   Tightening torque: 39.2 ~ 54 N·m

   Connect the seat belt pretensioner connector (A).

   Install the front seat belt upper anchor (A).

   Tightening torque: 39.2 ~ 54 N·m

   Install the center pillar upper garnish. (Refer to Body — "Center Pillar Garnish")

   Install the center pillar lower garnish. (Refer to Body — "Center Pillar Garnish")

   Insert the seat belt into the emergency locking retractor (A).

   

   Make sure the stopper pin is connected correctly.

   Connect the negative battery cable.

    After installing the seat belt pretensioner, check the system operation:

    • Turn the ignition ON; the SRS indicator should illuminate for approximately six seconds, then turn off.
