Defogging Logic

To reduce the possibility of fogging on the inside of the windshield, the air intake or air conditioning is controlled automatically according to certain conditions such asorposition. To cancel the automatic defogging logic or return to the automatic defogging logic, perform the following steps.

Automatic Climate Control System

1. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.

2. Press the defroster button ( ).

3. While holding down the air conditioner (A/C) button, press the air intake control button at least 5 times within 3 seconds.

The recirculation indicator flashes 3 times at 0.5-second intervals. This indicates that the anti-fog logic has been canceled or returned to its programmed state.

If the battery has been discharged or disconnected, the system resets to the default anti-fog logic state.

Automatic Defogging System

The automatic anti-fog function reduces the possibility of fogging on the inside of the windshield by automatically detecting humidity inside the windshield.

The automatic anti-fog system operates when the heater or air conditioner is on.

The automatic anti-fog system will not operate if you press the air intake control button, air conditioner button, or mode selection button while the automatic anti-fog system is active. To ensure proper operation, do not press the following buttons while the automatic defogging system is operating.

This indicator illuminates when the automatic anti-fog system detects humidity on the inside of the windshield and is operating.

The automatic anti-fog system removes excess moisture from the inside of the windshield in stages. For example, if automatic defogging does not clear fogging inside the windshield in Step 1 (Outside Air position), retry defogging in Step 2 (Air conditioner operation).

Step 1: Outside air position
Step 2: Air conditioner operation
Step 3: Direct airflow to the windshield
Step 4: Increase airflow to the windshield

To cancel or reset the automatic anti-fog system

Press and hold the windshield heater button for 3 seconds with the ignition switch in the ON position. When the ADS system is turned off, the button indicator will flash 3 times at 0.5-second intervals, and the "ADS OFF" message will appear on the climate control information screen. When the ADS system is reset, the button indicator will flash 6 times at 0.25-second intervals, and the "ADS OFF" message will disappear from the climate control information screen. You can enable or disable the automatic defogging system on the climate information selection screen of the AVN. If the battery is discharged or disconnected, the automatic anti-fog system will be reset. Adjust the function accordingly.

CAUTION

Do not remove the sensor cover located at the top of the windshield on the passenger side. Damage to system components may occur and may not be covered by your vehicle warranty.
