Hood
Hood Opening

1. Pull the hood release lever. The hood should pop up slightly.
Open the hood only when the vehicle is parked on a level surface, the engine is off, the shift lever is in P (Park), and the parking brake is applied.

2. Go to the front of the vehicle, lift the hood slightly, push the secondary latch (1) at the center on the left side of the hood, and lift the hood (2).
3. Lift the hood. It will open fully by itself once it has been raised about halfway.

A warning message will appear on the LCD display when the hood is open.
The warning chime will sound when the vehicle is driven at a speed of 3 km/h (2 mph) or higher with the hood open.
Hood Closing
1. Before closing the hood, check the following:
- All engine compartment filler caps must be installed correctly.
- Gloves, rags, and any other flammable materials must be removed from the engine compartment.
2. Lower the hood halfway, then press down to securely lock it in place.
3. Check that the hood is securely latched. If the hood can be lifted slightly, it is not properly latched.
Open it again and close it with a little more force.
WARNING! Hood Latch
Before closing the hood, make sure all obstacles are removed from the hood opening. Closing the hood with an obstacle in the hood opening may cause property damage.
WARNING. Fire Hazard.
Do not leave gloves, rags, or other flammable materials in the engine compartment. This may cause a fire.
WARNING - Unlatched Hood
Always check that the hood is securely latched before driving. If it is not latched, the hood may open while the vehicle is moving and block your view, which may result in a traffic accident.
