Replacing an Inside Panel Fuse

~2min read

1. Turn the ignition switch and all other switches off.

2. Open the fuse panel cover.

If the switch is in the OFF position, a warning light will be displayed on the instrument cluster.

3. Remove the suspected fuse. Use the removal tool provided on the engine compartment fuse panel cover.

4. Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown. Spare fuses are provided in the engine compartment fuse panel.

5. Insert a new fuse of the same rating and make sure it is fully seated in the clips.

If it does not seat securely, contact an authorized Kia dealer.

If you do not have a spare, use a fuse of the same rating from a circuit that you may not need to operate the vehicle, such as the power outlet fuse.

If the headlamp, turn signal lamp, stop lamp, fog lamp, DRL, tail lamp, or HMSL does not operate and the fuses are good, check the fuse panel in the engine compartment. If a fuse is blown, it must be replaced.

✽ NOTICE

If the headlamp, fog lamp, turn signal lamp, or tail lamp malfunctions even without any lamp problems, have the vehicle checked by an authorized Kia dealer for assistance.

Fuse Switch

Before using the vehicle, always set the fuse switch to the ON position.

If you move the switch to the OFF position, some items such as the audio and clock must be reset, and the transmitter (or smart key) may not operate properly. When the switch is OFF, a warning light will be displayed on the instrument cluster.

Always set the fuse switch to the ON position while driving the vehicle.

If the switch is in the OFF position, a warning light will be displayed on the instrument cluster.

CAUTION - Fuse panel covers

Switch contact points may wear out with excessive use. Avoid excessive use of switches (except during long-term parking of more than 1 month).

✽ NOTICE

  • Before driving, set all switches to the ON position.
  • If the vehicle will not be used for more than 1 month, set all switches to the OFF position to prevent battery discharge.
