Abschleppen im Notfall

If the vehicle must be towed, we recommend having it towed by a Kia dealer or an authorized towing company.
If no towing service is available in an emergency, you may tow the vehicle temporarily with a towing cable or tow hook attached to the towing eye at the front (or rear) under the vehicle. Be extremely careful when towing the vehicle. The driver must remain in the vehicle, seated at the steering wheel, and apply the brakes.
Tow the vehicle on paved roads only, at low speed and for short distances. Tow only one vehicle at a time, and make sure its wheels, axles, transmission, steering and brakes are in good working condition.
- Never attempt to free the vehicle from sand, mud, or other surfaces by using the towing eye and driving the vehicle under its own power.
- Avoid towing a vehicle that is heavier than the tow vehicle.
- Drivers of both vehicles must communicate regularly with each other (maintain eye contact).
DANGER
- Attach the towing cable to the towing eye.
- If another part of the vehicle is used as a towing point, your vehicle may be damaged.
- Use only the towing cable provided specifically for towing vehicles. Attach the towing cable correctly to the special towing eye.
- Before towing, check that the towing eye is not broken or damaged.
- Attach the towing cable correctly to the towing eye.
- Do not apply jerky force to the towing eye. Apply force to the eye smoothly.
- To avoid damaging the towing eye, do not pull it from the side or at a vertical angle. Always pull straight forward.
WARNING
Be extremely careful when towing the vehicle.
- Avoid sudden starts and uneven driving maneuvers so that the towing eye and towing cable are not overloaded. If the towing eye breaks or the towing cable snaps, it may cause serious injury and property damage.
- If the stuck vehicle does not move, do not continue the towing procedure with force. We recommend contacting a Kia dealer or calling roadside assistance.
- Pull the vehicle being towed in as straight a direction as possible.
- Make sure that no people are in the danger zone when towing.

- Use a towing cable that does not exceed 5 m. Attach a white or red cloth (approx. 30 cm wide) to the middle of the rope to improve visibility.
- Drive carefully to prevent the towing cable from slackening during towing.
Precautions for emergency towing
- Turn the ignition to ACC so that the steering wheel does not lock.
- Move the shift lever/selector to the neutral position (N).
- Release the parking brake.
- Press the brake pedal harder than normal, as braking force is reduced.
- Greater steering effort is required because the power steering is disabled.
- When driving down a long slope, the brakes may overheat and braking performance will be reduced. Stop frequently and allow the brakes to cool.
DANGER
Automatic Transaxle/Transmission Dual Clutch Transmission
- If the vehicle has all four wheels on the ground, it may only be towed forward. Caution: Make sure the transmission is shifted to neutral. The steering wheel must be unlocked; turn the ignition key to the ACC position. The driver must be in the towed vehicle, seated at the steering wheel, and apply the brakes.
- To prevent serious damage to the automatic transaxle/dual clutch transmission, limit the ground speed to 15 km/h and the towing distance to a maximum of 1.5 km.
- Before towing, check the automatic transaxle/dual clutch transmission for leaks under the vehicle. If the automatic transaxle/dual clutch transmission leaks, the vehicle must be transported on a flatbed truck or trailer, or towed with the drive wheels raised.
