Starting Uphill from a Standstill

~1min read

To start uphill from a standstill, depress the brake pedal and shift the shift lever to the D (Drive) position. Select a suitable gear depending on the load weight and the steepness of the slope, then release the parking brake. Depress the accelerator gradually while releasing the service brake.

When starting on a steep hill, the vehicle may tend to roll backward. Moving the shift lever to position 2 (second gear) will help prevent the vehicle from rolling back.
