Driving Your Vehicle

Snow or Icy Conditions

~1min read

Driving the vehicle in deep snow may require winter tires or the installation of snow chains on the tires. If snow tires are required, select tires equivalent in size and type to the original tires. Failure to do so may adversely affect the safety and handling of your vehicle. Furthermore, speeding, rapid acceleration, sudden braking, and sharp turns are potentially very dangerous actions.

When decelerating, make full use of engine braking. Sudden braking on snowy or icy roads may cause skidding. You should keep a sufficient distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead. Also, press the brake pedal gently. Note that installing snow chains on the tires provides greater driving force but will not prevent lateral sliding.

✽ NOTICE

Snow chains are not permitted in all countries. Check the laws of your country before installing tire chains.
