What to Do in an Emergency

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) malfunction indicator

~1min read

The TPMS malfunction indicator will come on after flashing for approximately one minute when there is a problem with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System. If the system is able to correctly detect low tire pressure at the same time as a system malfunction, the TPMS malfunction indicator remains illuminated after flashing for approximately 1 minute.

We recommend that the system be inspected by an authorized Kia dealer to determine the cause of the problem.

CAUTION

  • The TPMS malfunction indicator may flash for approximately 1 minute and then remain continuously illuminated if the vehicle is driven near electrical power lines or radio transmitters, such as police stations, government and public agencies, broadcast stations, military facilities, airports, or transmission towers, etc. This may interfere with normal operation of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
  • The TPMS malfunction indicator may flash for approximately 1 minute and then remain continuously illuminated if anti-skid chains are used or certain aftermarket electronic devices, such as a laptop, mobile phone charger, remote starter, or navigation system, are used in the vehicle. This may interfere with normal operation of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
