Armed Stage
Park the vehicle and turn off the engine. Activate the system as described below.
1. Remove the key from the ignition switch and exit the vehicle.
2. Make sure that all doors (and the trunk) and the hood are closed and locked.
3. Lock the doors using the Smart Key System transmitter (or Smart Key) or the ignition key.
After performing the above steps, the hazard warning lights will flash once (for the Smart Key) to indicate that the system is armed. If the lock button is pressed again within 4 seconds, the hazard warning lights will flash and the horn will sound once.
If any door (or the luggage compartment/trunk) or the hood remains open, the hazard warning lights and horn will not operate, and the theft alarm will not activate. If all doors, the luggage compartment (trunk) and the hood are closed after pressing the lock button, the hazard warning lights will flash once.
The system can also be armed by locking the front doors with the key; however, when using this method, the hazard warning lights will not flash.
✽ NOTICE
The anti-theft alarm system can be deactivated at an authorized Kia dealer. If you need this function, contact an authorized Kia dealer.
Do not arm the system until all passengers have left the vehicle. If the system is armed while passenger(s) remain in the vehicle, the alarm may be activated when the remaining passengers leave the vehicle. If any door (or the luggage compartment/trunk) or the hood is opened within 30 seconds after the system enters the armed stage, the system is disarmed to prevent unnecessary alarm.
