Theft Alarm Stage, Disarmed Stage

Theft Stage

The alarm will be activated if any of the following occurs while the system is armed.

• Opening the front or rear door without using the ignition key or transmitter (or Smart Key).
• The luggage compartment (trunk) is opened without using the transmitter (or Smart Key).
• The hood is opened.

The horn will sound and the hazard warning lights will flash continuously for approximately 27 seconds, and the horn will sound 3 times if the system is not disarmed. To turn off the system, unlock the doors with the ignition key or the transmitter (or Smart Key).

Disarmed stage

The system will be disarmed when

• The doors (and luggage compartment/trunk) are unlocked with the transmitter (or Smart Key) or the ignition key.

After pressing the unlock button, the hazard warning lights will flash and the horn will sound twice (with the Smart Key), indicating that the system is disarmed.

After pressing the unlock button, if any door (or the luggage compartment/trunk) is not opened within 30 seconds, the system will re-arm.

✽ NOTICE

• Do not attempt to start the engine while the alarm is activated. The vehicle's starter motor will be disabled during the theft alarm stage.
  - If the system has not been disarmed by the transmitter, insert the key into the ignition key cylinder, turn the ignition key to the ON position, and wait for 30 seconds. The system will then be disarmed.
  - If the system has not been disarmed by the Smart Key, press the Engine Start/Stop button with the Smart Key. The side of the Smart Key with the lock button must touch the Engine Start/Stop button directly.
• If you have lost your keys, contact an authorized Kia dealer.

CAUTION - Alarm System Adjustment

Do not change, modify, or adjust the security alarm system, as this may cause the security alarm system to malfunction. The system must be serviced only by an authorized Kia dealer.

Malfunctions caused by improper changes, settings, or modifications to the anti-theft alarm system are not covered by your vehicle manufacturer's warranty.
