Normal Maintenance Schedule

The following maintenance must be performed to ensure good emissions control and performance. Keep receipts for all vehicle emissions services to protect your warranty. Where mileage and time are listed, the maintenance interval is determined by whichever occurs first.

NO. ITEM NOTICE
*1 Engine Oil and Engine Oil Filter Check the engine oil level and for leaks every 500 km (350 miles) or before a long trip.
*2 Engine Coolant When adding coolant, use only deionized water or soft water suitable for your vehicle. Never mix hard water with the factory-filled coolant. An improper coolant mixture may cause serious malfunction or engine damage.
*3 Drive Belts (Engine)
  • Adjust the generator, water pump and air conditioner (if equipped) drive belt. Inspect and repair or replace as necessary.

  • Inspect the drive belt tensioner, idler pulley and alternator pulley, and repair or replace as necessary.

*4 Spark Plug For your convenience, it may be replaced before its service life expires when you perform maintenance on other items.
5 Fuel Additives (Gasoline) Kia recommends using unleaded gasoline with a Research Octane Number (RON) of 95 / Anti-Knock Index (AKI) of 91 or higher (for Europe), or RON 91 / AKI 87 or higher (except Europe). For customers who do not regularly use good quality gasoline, including fuel additives, and who experience starting problems or rough engine running, add one bottle of fuel additive to the fuel tank every 15,000 km (Europe) / 10,000 km (except Europe). Additives can be purchased from an authorized Kia dealer together with instructions for their use. Do not mix other additives.
*6 Fuel filter The fuel filter is considered maintenance-free, but it should be inspected periodically. The recommended replacement interval for this maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality.
  • If there are any important safety concerns, such as fuel restriction, surging, loss of power, starting problems, etc., replace the fuel filter immediately regardless of the maintenance schedule and consult an authorized KIA dealer for detailed information.
