System Malfunction

If the warning message "Check System" appears, the system is not operating properly. In this case, have the system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
WARNING
- The Driver Attention Warning system does not replace safe driving practices. The driver must always drive carefully to prevent unexpected and sudden situations. Pay attention to road conditions at all times.
- This may indicate a break is needed depending on the driver's driving style or habits, even if the driver does not feel tired.
- A driver who feels tired should take a break, even if the Driver Attention Warning system does not suggest a break.
✽ NOTICE
The Driver Attention Warning system uses a camera sensor mounted on the upper part of the windshield to operate. To keep the camera sensor in the best condition, observe the following:
- Do not disassemble the camera temporarily for window tinting or for installing any type of coating or accessories. If the camera is disassembled and reassembled, take your vehicle to an authorized Kia dealer and have the system inspected.
- Do not place reflective objects (such as white paper or a mirror) on top of the instrument panel. Any light reflection may cause the Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system to malfunction.
- Take extreme care to keep the camera sensor away from water.
- Do not disassemble the camera assembly or strike the camera assembly.
• Playing the vehicle audio system at high volume may distract the driver's attention. The warning sound of the warning system may not be heard.
CAUTION
The Driver Attention Warning system may not operate properly with limited warning in the following situations:
- Lane detection performance is limited. (For more details, refer to the "Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) System" section in this chapter.)
- The vehicle moves abruptly or turns sharply to avoid an obstacle (e.g., construction site, other vehicles, fallen objects, bumpy road).
- Front steering performance of the vehicle is severely impaired (possibly due to large tire pressure differences, uneven tire wear, or wheel alignment).
- The vehicle is driving on a winding road.
- The vehicle is driving on a bumpy road.
- The vehicle is driving in a windy area.
- The vehicle is equipped with the following driver assistance systems:
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA).
✽ NOTICE
The Driver Attention Warning system does not determine the actual fatigue or drowsiness of the driver. The system monitors driving and issues a warning if it detects inattentive driving behavior.
