Driving Your Vehicle

Warning

~3min read

If the vehicle leaves the lane, the lane marker indicator for the lane being crossed will flash on the LCD display.

If the vehicle drifts out of its lane because the steering torque for assistance is not sufficient, the lane line indicator will start flashing.

  • If all conditions for LKA activation are not met, the system converts to LDW and warns the driver only when the driver crosses the lane markings. In this case, the LDW system does not provide any steering inputs to the vehicle. Accordingly, you must take the necessary steps to keep control of the vehicle and keep it within the lane.

If the driver removes their hands from the steering wheel for several seconds while LKA is active, the system will warn the driver.

WARNING

  • If you lightly hold the steering wheel, the system may generate a hands-off warning, since the lane keeping system may not detect the driver's hands on the steering wheel.
  • If you lightly hold the steering wheel, the system will generate a hands-off warning, because LKA may handle the situation when you are not gripping the steering wheel.

If the driver still does not keep hands on the steering wheel after several seconds, the system will not steer, and will only warn the driver when the driver crosses the lane markings.

However, if the driver places their hands on the steering wheel again, the system will resume steering control.

WARNING

  • The driver is responsible for accurate steering.
  • Although the system assists steering, the driver can still control the steering wheel.
  • Turn off the system and drive the vehicle manually in the following situations.
    - In bad weather
    - On poor road conditions
    - When the driver must frequently steer the steering wheel.
  • The steering wheel may feel heavier when steering assistance is provided by the system than when it is not.

✽ NOTICE

  • Although the system assists steering, the driver can override steering control.
  • The steering wheel may feel heavier when the system is operating than when it is not.

The system will be cancelled when:

  • When changing lanes, use the turn signal.
    - Use the turn signal when changing lanes.
    - If you change lanes without the turn signal on, the steering wheel may be controlled unexpectedly.
  • LKA may enter steering assist mode when the vehicle approaches the center of the lane after the system is turned on or the lane has been changed. LKA cannot assist steering if the vehicle follows the lane marking too closely before entering steering assist mode.
  • ESC (Electronic Stability Control) or VSM (Vehicle Stability Management) control is activated.
  • Steering assistance will not work when driving quickly through a sharp curve.
  • Steering assist will not operate if vehicle speed is below 64 km/h (mph) and above 177 km/h. Always obey all traffic laws and drive safely.
  • Steering assistance will not be provided during rapid lane changes.
  • Steering assistance will not be provided during sudden braking.
  • Steering assistance will not be provided if the lane is very wide or very narrow.
  • Steering assistance will not be provided if only one lane marker on the side is detected.
  • There are more than two lane markers, such as at a construction zone.
  • The radius of the curve is too small.
  • When the steering wheel is turned sharply, the LKA system is temporarily deactivated.
  • Driving on a steep slope or hill.
