Airbag Warning Light

The purpose of the airbag warning light on the instrument panel is to warn you of a potential problem with your Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) airbag.

When the ignition key is turned ON, the warning lamp should illuminate for approximately 6 seconds, then go off. Have the system checked if:

• The lamp does not illuminate briefly when the ignition switch is turned ON.
• The light remains on after illuminating for approximately 6 seconds.
• The light comes on while the vehicle is in motion.
• The lamp flashes when the ignition switch is in the ON position.

Front Passenger Airbag ON Indicator

The front passenger airbag ON indicator illuminates for approximately 4 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.

The front passenger airbag ON indicator also illuminates when the front passenger airbag ON/OFF switch is set to the ON position, and goes off after approximately 60 seconds.

Front Passenger Airbag OFF Indicator

The front passenger airbag OFF indicator illuminates for approximately 4 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.

The front passenger airbag OFF indicator light also comes on when the front passenger airbag ON/OFF switch is set to the OFF position, and goes off when the front passenger airbag ON/OFF switch is set to the ON position.

CAUTION

If the front passenger airbag ON/OFF switch malfunctions, the front passenger airbag OFF indicator does not illuminate (the front passenger airbag ON indicator illuminates and goes off after approximately 60 seconds), and the front passenger airbag may deploy in a frontal impact even if the front passenger airbag switch is set to the OFF position.

In this case, the front passenger airbag ON/OFF switch and the SRS airbag system should be inspected by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
