SRS Care

The SRS requires virtually no maintenance and there are no serviceable parts, so do not attempt to service it yourself. If the airbag SRS warning light does not illuminate or remains on continuously, have the system inspected at a professional workshop.

Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.

WARNING

• Modification of SRS components or wiring, including adding any emblems to the trim pads or modifying the body structure, may adversely affect SRS performance and may result in possible injury.
• To clean the airbag trim pad covers, use only a soft dry cloth or one that has been dampened with plain water. Solvents or cleaners may adversely affect the airbag covers and the proper deployment of the system.
• No objects should be placed over or near the steering wheel airbag modules, instrument panel, and front passenger panel above the glove box, because any such object may cause injury if the vehicle is in a severe accident severe enough to deploy the airbags.
• If the airbags deploy, have the system replaced by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia Dealer/Service Partner.
• Do not tamper with or disconnect the SRS wiring or other SRS components. This may result in injury from accidental airbag deployment or render the SRS inoperative.
• If airbag system components must be discarded, or if the vehicle must be scrapped, observe the necessary precautions. An authorized Kia dealer is familiar with these precautions and can provide you with the necessary information. Failure to observe these precautions and procedures may increase the risk of injury.
• If your vehicle has been flooded and the carpet is wet or water is on the floor covering, do not attempt to start the engine; in this case, have the vehicle inspected by a professional workshop. Kia recommends contacting an authorized Kia Dealer/Service Partner.
