ESS: Emergency Stop Signal

~1min read

The Emergency Stop Signal system warns following drivers by flashing the brake lights when the vehicle stops suddenly or when ABS is activated during braking. (The system activates when vehicle speed exceeds 55 km/h and vehicle deceleration exceeds 7 m/s², or when ABS operates during emergency braking.)

When vehicle speed drops below 40 km/h and ABS is deactivated or the sudden stop condition has ended, the flashing of the brake lights will stop.

CAUTION

The Emergency Stop Signal system will not operate if the hazard warning flasher is already on.
