Replacing an Inside Panel Fuse

~1min read

1. Turn the ignition key to OFF and turn off all other switches.

2. Open the fuse panel cover.

3. Pull the suspected fuse straight out. Use the removal tool provided in the main fuse box in the engine compartment.

4. Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown. Spare fuses are provided in the instrument panel fuse box (or in the fuse box in the engine compartment).

5. Insert a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits securely in the clips.

If it is loose, contact a professional workshop. Kia recommends consulting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.

If you do not have a spare fuse, use a fuse of the same rating from a circuit that you may not need to operate the vehicle, such as the cigar lighter fuse.

If the headlights or tail lights, stop lights, interior lights, or daytime running lights (D.R.L) do not work and the fuses are good, check the fuse panel in the engine compartment. If a fuse is blown, it must be replaced.

Memory Fuse

Your vehicle is equipped with a memory fuse to prevent battery discharge if your vehicle is parked for long periods. Use the following procedure before parking the vehicle for a long period.

1. Turn off the engine.

2. Turn off the headlights and tail lights.

3. Open the driver's side kick panel cover and remove the memory fuse.

NOTICE

  • If the memory fuse in the fuse panel is blown, the warning chime, audio, clock, interior lamps, and similar items will not work. Some items must be reset after replacement. Refer to "Battery" on page 8-53.
  • Even when the memory fuse is removed, the battery may still be discharged due to operation of the headlights or other electrical devices.
