What to Do in an Emergency

TPMS Setting

~1min read

The driver can set the TPMS by following the procedure below:

1. Inflate all tires to the recommended pressure.

2. Start the engine, make sure the vehicle is not moving, and press and hold the TPMS switch (2) on the left side of the driver's seat for more than 3 seconds.

3. Make sure the () warning light flashes for 4 seconds.

4. Check whether the following message appears on the cluster (if equipped).

❈ If the warning light does not flash or the message does not appear, repeat the process from step 2. For the recommended tire pressure of this vehicle, refer to the "Tires and Wheels" section on page 9-06 or the tire pressure label on the driver's door.

For proper TPMS operation, the driver must set the system in the following situations.

❈ Situations requiring TPMS setting

  • If a tire or wheel is repaired or replaced.
  • If a tire or wheel is rotated.
  • If the tire pressure is adjusted.
  • If the low tire pressure warning light is on.
  • If the suspension or ABS has been replaced.

CAUTION

If the system is set without adjusting the tire pressure, a false alarm may occur or the warning signal may not be displayed even though the vehicle is significantly under-inflated. Make sure all tires are properly adjusted to the recommended pressure when setting the system.

If the system is not set even in the required situations, a false alarm may occur or the warning signal may not be displayed even though the vehicle is significantly under-inflated.

The system will not be set if you press the SET switch (2) while driving. Be sure to stop the vehicle and press and hold the switch (2) for 3 seconds.

• Before inflating, make sure the tire is cold. A cold tire means the vehicle has been parked for 3 hours or driven less than 1.6 km (1 mile).
