Speedometer

Kia Soul. Gauges

The speedometer shows vehicle speed and is calibrated in miles per hour (mph) and/or kilometers per hour (km/h).

Tachometer

Kia Soul. Gauges

The tachometer shows the approximate engine speed in revolutions per minute (rpm).

Use the tachometer to select the correct shift points and to prevent wheel spin and/or over-revving the engine.

CAUTION

Do not operate the engine in the RED ZONE of the tachometer. Doing so may cause serious engine damage.

Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge

Kia Soul. Gauges

This gauge shows the engine coolant temperature when the ignition switch or engine start/stop button is in the ON position.

CAUTION

If the sensor pointer moves outside the normal range toward “H” or 130, this indicates overheating, which may damage the engine.

Do not continue driving with an overheated engine. If your vehicle overheats, refer to “If the Engine Overheats” on page 7-07.

WARNING

Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Engine coolant is under pressure and may cause severe scalding. Wait until the engine has cooled before adding coolant to the reservoir.

Fuel Gauge

Kia Soul. Gauges

This gauge shows the approximate amount of fuel remaining in the fuel tank.

NOTICE

  • For the fuel tank capacity, refer to “Recommended Fuel, Lubricants and Capacities” on page 9-11.
  • The fuel gauge is supplemented by the low fuel warning light, which illuminates when the fuel tank is nearly empty.
  • On hills or curves, the fuel gauge pointer may fluctuate, or the low fuel warning light may come on earlier than usual due to fuel movement in the tank.

WARNING

Fuel Level Gauge

Running out of fuel may endanger the vehicle occupants.

Stop and obtain additional fuel as soon as possible after the warning lamp illuminates or when the fuel gauge pointer approaches the “E” or 0 mark.

CAUTION

Avoid driving with very low fuel. Lack of fuel may cause the engine to misfire, damaging the catalytic converter.

Odometer

Kia Soul. Gauges

The odometer shows the total distance the vehicle has traveled and should be used to determine when periodic maintenance is due.

- Odometer range: 0 to 1,599,999 km or 999,999 miles.

Outside Air Temperature Gauge

Kia Soul. Gauges

This sensor displays the current outside air temperature with an accuracy of 1 °C.

- Temperature range: -40°C ~ 85 °C

The outside air temperature display may not change immediately as it normally does. The thermometer is designed so that the driver is not distracted.

To change the temperature unit (from °C to °F or from °F to °C)

The temperature unit can be changed in the "User Settings" mode of the LCD display.

❈ For more information, refer to “LCD Display” on page 4-51.
