Unfastened Seat Belt Warning

Driver's Seat Belt Unbuckled Warning (1)

As a reminder to the driver, the driver's unbuckled seat belt indicator light comes on for approximately 6 seconds each time the ignition switch is turned ON, regardless of whether the seat belt is fastened. If the seat belt is not fastened, a warning chime sounds for approximately 6 seconds.

If you start driving with the seat belt unfastened, or unfasten the seat belt while driving at a speed below 20 km/h or while stopped, the corresponding indicator light illuminates.

If you start driving with the seat belt unfastened, or unfasten the seat belt while driving at a speed of 20 km/h or above, the indicator light will flash and the warning chime will sound for approximately 100 seconds.

When the seat belt is not fastened while driving, the indicator light illuminates at speeds below 20 km/h. At speeds of 20 km/h or above, the warning indicator will flash and the warning chime will sound for approximately 100 seconds.

Front Passenger Seat Belt Unbuckled Warning (2) (if equipped)

As a reminder to the front passenger, the front passenger's unfastened seat belt warning light will illuminate for approximately 6 seconds each time the ignition is turned on, regardless of whether the seat belt is fastened.

If you start driving with the seat belt unfastened, or unfasten the seat belt while driving at a speed below 20 km/h or while stopped, the corresponding indicator light illuminates.

If you start driving with the seat belt unfastened, or unfasten the seat belt while driving at a speed of 20 km/h or above, the indicator light will flash and the warning chime will sound for approximately 100 seconds.

When the seat belt is not fastened while driving, the indicator light illuminates at speeds below 20 km/h. At speeds of 20 km/h or above, the warning indicator will flash and the warning chime will sound for approximately 100 seconds.

WARNING

Riding in an incorrect position adversely affects the front passenger seat belt warning system. It is important for the driver to instruct the passenger on proper seating, as described in this manual.

NOTICE

• The front passenger unfastened seat belt warning light is located in the center fascia panel.
• Even if the front passenger seat is unoccupied, the seat belt unbuckled warning light will illuminate for 6 seconds.
• The front passenger unfastened seat belt warning may activate when luggage is placed on the front passenger seat.

Rear Passenger Seat Belt Unbuckled Warning (3, 4, 5) (if equipped)

As a reminder to rear passengers, the rear passenger seat belt unbuckled indicator light comes on for approximately 6 seconds each time the ignition switch is turned ON, regardless of whether the seat belt is fastened.

If the seat belt is not fastened when the ignition switch is turned ON, the seat belt unbuckled indicator light will illuminate for approximately 70 seconds.

If you start driving with the seat belt unfastened, or unfasten the seat belt while driving at a speed below 20 km/h, the corresponding indicator light stays illuminated for approximately 70 seconds.

If you continue driving with the seat belt unfastened, or unfasten the seat belt while driving at a speed above 20 km/h, the seat belt unbuckled warning chime will sound for approximately 35 seconds and the corresponding indicator light will flash.

If the rear door is opened or closed at a speed below 20 km/h, the indicator light and warning chime do not operate, even when driving above 20 km/h.
