Smart Key Functions

With the smart key on you, you can lock and unlock the vehicle doors (and the tailgate). In addition, you can start the engine. For details, refer to the following section.
Lock (1)
Pressing the button on the front door outside handles with all doors closed and any unlocked door locks all doors. If all doors and the hood are closed, the hazard warning lights flash once to indicate that all doors are locked.
The button will only work when the smart key is within 0.7 ~ 1 m (28 ~ 40 in.) of the outside door handle. To make sure that the door is locked or not, check the door lock button inside the vehicle or pull the outside door handle. Even if you press the buttons on the outside door handle, the doors will not lock and the buzzer will sound for 3 seconds if one of the following occurs:
- The smart key is inside the vehicle.
- The ENGINE START/STOP button is in the ACC or ON position.
- Any door except the tailgate is open.
Unlock (2)
Pressing the button on the front door outside handles with all doors closed and locked unlocks all doors. The hazard warning lights flash twice to indicate that all doors are unlocked.
The button will only work when the Smart Key is within 0.7 ~ 1 m (28 ~ 40 in.) of the outside door handle.
When the smart key is detected within 0.7 ~ 1 m (28 ~ 40 in.) of the front outside door handle, other persons may also open the door without possessing the smart key.
After the button is pressed, the doors will automatically lock again if you do not open any door within 30 seconds.
Unlocking the Tailgate (3)
If you are within 0.7 ~ 1 m (28 ~ 40 in.) of the tailgate outside handle and have the smart key, the tailgate unlocks and opens when you press the tailgate handle switch.
