Wipers
Operates as follows when the ignition switch is ON.
1. MIST/ ˅ : For a single wiping cycle, move the lever to this (MIST/ ˅ ) position and release it. The wipers will operate continuously if the lever is held in this position.
2. OFF / O: The wiper does not operate.
3. INT / ---: The wiper operates intermittently at regular intervals. Use this mode in light rain or fog. To change the speed setting, turn the speed control knob.
4. LO/1: Normal wiper speed.
5. HI / 2: Fast wiper speed.
NOTICE
If heavy snow or ice has accumulated on the windshield, defrost the windshield for approximately 10 minutes or until the snow and/or ice is removed before using the wipers to ensure proper operation. If you do not remove the snow and/or ice before using the wipers and washer, the wiper and washer system may be damaged.
Automatic Control

The rain sensor (A), located at the upper part of the windshield, detects the amount of precipitation and controls the wiping cycle at appropriate intervals. The heavier the rain, the faster the wiper operates. When the rain stops, the wipers stop.
To change the speed setting, turn the sensitivity adjustment knob (1).
If the wiper switch is set to AUTO with the ignition on, the wipers will operate once to perform a system self-check. Set the wiper switch to the OFF (O) position when the wipers are not in use.
CAUTION
When the ignition switch is ON and the wiper switch is in AUTO mode, observe the following precautions to avoid injury to your hands or other parts of your body:
- Do not touch the upper edge of the windshield near the rain sensor.
- Do not wipe the upper edge of the windshield with a wet or damp cloth.
- Do not press on the windshield.
CAUTION
- When washing the vehicle, set the wiper switch to the OFF (O) position to stop the automatic wiper operation. The wiper may operate and be damaged if the switch is in the AUTO position while washing the vehicle.
- Do not remove the sensor cover located on the upper end of the passenger side windshield. Damage to the system components may occur and may not be covered by your vehicle warranty.
- When starting the vehicle in winter, set the wiper switch to the OFF (O) position. Otherwise, the wipers may operate and ice may damage the wiper blades. Always remove all snow and ice and defrost the windshield before operating the wipers.
- When applying window tint to the windshield, make sure that no liquid gets on the sensor located at the upper center part of the windshield. This may damage the related components.
