Specifications, fluids and tightening torques

The 'Autotronic' transmission is an electronically controlled automatic transmission with continuously variable ratio (CVT).

APPLICATIONS

Type 722.800: Engines 640.940 (B180 CDI) and 640.941 (B200 CDI).

The transmission control module is located in the transmission.

Specifications

TRANSMISSION FLUID

Capacity:

Oil change (without torque converter drain): 4.0 litres.

Oil change (with torque converter drain): 6.0 litres.

Initial fill of transmission: 5.7 litres.

Initial fill of transmission and torque converter: 6.0 litres.

Initial fill of transmission, torque converter and cooling system (without external transmission oil cooler in front of radiator): 6.25 litres.

Initial fill of transmission, torque converter and cooling system (with external transmission oil cooler in front of radiator): 6.5 litres.

Recommended fluid:
ATF 28-CVT or Fuchs Titan ATF CVT or Shell CVT Fluid 0282.
Mercedes reference MB 236.20 (001 989 4603).

Service interval: Replace automatic transmission fluid and filter every 60,000 km.

Tightening torques (in daN.m and degrees)

Tightening torques are given in the caption of the various exploded views.

Transmission to engine block: 2.

Torque converter: 4.2.

Starter motor: 1.9.

Oil pan drain plug: 2.2.

Torque converter drain plug: 0.8.

Transmission oil pan: 0.8.

Control module bolts to transmission housing: 0.8.

Control module bolts to oil pump (*):

• without washer: 0.6.
• with washer: 0.4 + 180°.

Transmission cover: 0.8.

(*) Screws or nuts to be replaced after each removal.
