Spare wheel
Some vehicles are equipped with a tire repair kit instead of a spare wheel.
The spare wheel may be referred to as a temporary spare wheel due to its size compared to the vehicle's other wheels and according to national regulations.
The spare wheel has a steel rim.
Notice
Using a spare wheel that is smaller than the other wheels, or together with winter tires, may affect handling. Have the defective tire replaced as soon as possible.

The spare wheel is located in the luggage compartment, under the floor cover.
To remove it:
- Open the floor cover.
- The spare wheel is secured with a wing nut. Turn the wing nut counterclockwise and remove the spare wheel.
A vehicle tool kit is located under the spare wheel.
- If no wheel is placed in the spare wheel well after the wheel change, secure the tool kit by tightening the wing nut and close the floor cover.
Store the removed normal-size wheel in the spare wheel well.
The spare wheel well is not suitable for all permitted tire sizes. If a wheel larger than the spare wheel must be stored in the well after a wheel change, replace the threaded rod provided for securing the wheel with a longer bolt, found in tool kit 230.
To replace the bolt:
- Remove the tool kit from the spare wheel well.

- Place the hex key on the wheel wrench, making sure it is correctly seated on the bolt.
- Turn the wheel wrench counterclockwise to loosen the bolt.
Remove the bolt.
- Take the longer bolt from tool kit 230 and screw it in by hand using the wheel hex key.

- Store the tool kit and the damaged wheel outside the spare wheel well, and secure them by turning the wing nut clockwise onto the bolt.
The floor cover can be placed over the protruding wheel.
To secure the spare wheel in the well after repairing the defective wheel, use the short threaded rod again. Replace the bolt in the same way.
Caution
If a jack, wheel, or other equipment is stored in the luggage compartment but not properly secured, it may cause serious injury. In the event of sudden braking or a collision, unsecured items could strike occupants.
Always store the wheel, jack, and tools in the designated storage compartment and secure them properly.
Temporary Spare Wheel
Notice
Using a spare wheel that is smaller than the other wheels, or together with winter tires, may affect handling. Have the defective tire replaced as soon as possible.
Only fit one temporary spare wheel at a time. Do not drive faster than 80 km/h. Drive slowly around corners. Do not use for extended periods.
If your vehicle has a flat tire at the rear while towing another vehicle, fit the temporary spare wheel at the front and the full-size wheel at the rear.

Directional Tires
Fit directional tires so that they rotate in the direction of travel. The rotation direction can be identified by the symbol (for example an arrow) on the tire sidewall.
If wheels are fitted in the opposite direction of rotation, observe the following:
- Handling may be affected.
Have the defective tyre replaced or repaired as soon as possible.
- In rain and snow, drive with extreme caution.
