Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
The tyre pressure monitoring system monitors the pressure of all four tyres once per minute when the vehicle speed exceeds a certain limit.
All wheels must be fitted with pressure sensors and the tyres must be inflated to the prescribed pressure.
The current tyre inflation pressures can be displayed in the Vehicle information menu of the driver information centre.
The menu can be selected using the buttons on the turn signal lever.

Press the MENU button to select the Vehicle information menu.

Turn the thumbwheel to select the tyre pressure monitoring system.
The system status and minor pressure deviations are indicated by a warning message with the corresponding tyre flashing in the driver information centre.
Larger pressure differences between tyres on the same axle are indicated by a warning message in the driver information centre.
Significant pressure differences are also indicated by the warning light
.

98.
Vehicle messages 109.
If the inflation pressure must be reduced or increased, switch off the ignition.
If a complete set of wheels without sensors is fitted (e.g. the four winter tyres), a message is shown in the driver information centre. The tyre pressure monitoring system does not function. Retrofitting the sensors is possible.
A spare wheel or temporary spare wheel is not fitted with a pressure sensor. The tyre pressure monitoring system is not operational with these wheels. The warning light
lights up.
The system remains operational for the other three wheels.
Use of commercially available liquid-type tyre repair kits may impair the operation of the system. Factory-approved repair kits may be used.
High-power external radio systems may interfere with the tyre pressure monitoring system.
Replace the valve seals and valve caps of the tire pressure monitoring system each time the tires are changed.
Adaptive threshold function
The tire pressure monitoring system automatically detects whether the vehicle is being driven with the correct tire inflation pressure for a load of up to 3 persons or a full load.
If the tire inflation pressure needs to be reduced, switch off the ignition before reducing the pressure.
Self-learning function
After changing the wheels, the vehicle must remain stationary for approximately 20 minutes before the system recalculates. The subsequent relearning process requires up to 10 minutes of driving at a minimum speed of 20 km/h. In this case,
may be displayed, or the
pressure values may appear alternately on the driver information center.
If a problem occurs during the relearning process, a warning message is displayed on the driver information center.
Temperature compensation
Cold tires reduce the inflation pressure, warm tires increase the inflation pressure. The tire pressure monitoring system takes this effect into account when displaying warning messages.
The tire inflation pressure value displayed on the driver information center shows the actual inflation pressure. It is therefore important to check the tire inflation pressure when the tires are cold.
