Special features of petrol engine versions
Operating conditions of the vehicle, such as:
- driving for a long time with the low fuel warning light on;
- using leaded petrol;
- use of oil or fuel additives that are not approved.
Or faults such as:
- a faulty ignition system, an empty fuel tank, or a disconnected spark plug, which shows up as difficulty starting the engine and jerking while driving;
- loss of power,
may cause the catalytic converter to overheat, reduce its efficiency or damage it, and may also cause thermal faults in other vehicle components.
If any of the above malfunctions are noticed, go to an Authorised Dealer immediately to have the necessary repairs carried out.
Regular servicing at Authorised Dealers, in accordance with the recommendations in the Service Book, will help avoid the above problems.
Engine starting problems
To prevent damage to the catalytic converter, do not try to start the engine "at all costs" (by repeatedly operating the starter, pushing or towing the vehicle) until the cause of the fault has been identified and repaired.
If this is not possible, do not attempt to start the engine; contact an Authorised Partner of the brand.
Avoid parking the vehicle and running the engine in places where flammable substances and materials, such as grass or leaves, could come into contact with hot exhaust system components.Test yourself
