Diesel engine speed

Diesel engines are fitted with an injection pump that prevents the maximum permitted engine speed from being exceeded, regardless of the gear currently selected.

While driving, depending on the quality of the fuel used, white smoke may appear in exceptional cases.

This is the result of the automatic regeneration of the diesel particulate filter and does not affect how the vehicle behaves.

Empty fuel tank

After refuelling following complete fuel exhaustion, the fuel system must be bled: before restarting the engine, refer to the "Fuel tank" section in chapter 1.

Winter operating tips

To avoid problems in freezing conditions:

• keep the battery properly charged at all times,
• make sure the diesel fuel level does not get too low, as this could cause condensed water vapour to collect at the bottom of the fuel tank.

Avoid parking the vehicle and running the engine in places where flammable substances and materials, such as grass or leaves, could come into contact with hot exhaust system components.
