Changing a wheel

Switch on the hazard warning lights. Park the vehicle away from traffic, on level, firm, non-slip ground. Apply the parking brake and engage a gear (first or reverse; with an automatic gearbox, set the selector lever to P).
All passengers should leave the vehicle and stay at a safe distance from the traffic zone.
Vehicles equipped with a jack and wheel brace
If necessary, remove the decorative wheel trim.
Loosen the wheel bolts using the wheel brace 1. Position the brace so that you turn it downwards.
Start turning the jack 2 by hand so that its head sits correctly on the sheet-metal bracket located as close as possible to the wheel being changed and marked with arrow 3.
If the vehicle is not fitted with a jack, wheel brace, etc., these items can be obtained from an authorised brand partner. If parking on the verge, warn other road users of the vehicle's presence using a warning triangle or other warning devices required by the local regulations of the country you are in.Continue turning until the base is correctly positioned (it must be slid under the vehicle and positioned vertically, in line with the jack head).
Turn the handle several times until the wheel lifts off the ground.
Remove the bolts and take off the wheel.
Place the spare wheel onto the hub and rotate it until the threaded holes in the hub line up with the holes in the wheel rim.
Tighten the bolts, making sure the wheel is correctly seated against the hub.
Lower the jack.
After lowering the wheel, tighten the bolts firmly and check the tightening torque and the spare wheel tyre pressure as soon as possible.
If a tyre is punctured, replace the wheel immediately.A punctured tyre must be thoroughly inspected (and repaired if possible) by a specialist.
Vehicle fitted with a tyre pressure loss warning system
If the tyre pressure is too low (puncture, under-inflation, etc.), the warning light illuminates on the instrument panel
. See "
Tyre pressure loss warning" in chapter 2.
The jack is intended only for changing a wheel. Under no circumstances may it be used for carrying out repairs or to gain better access to the underbody components.
