CYLINDER HEAD TIGHTENING METHOD

REMINDER:

To ensure correct bolt tightening, remove any oil from the cylinder head bolt holes using a syringe.

All cylinder head bolts must be replaced systematically after removal.

There is no cylinder head retightening.

Lubricate the threads and the underside of the bolt heads with engine oil.

D7F ENGINE

Gasket pre-settling

Tighten all bolts to 2 daN.m, then turn them through an angle of 90° in the order shown below.

Wait 3 minutes for stabilisation.

Cylinder head tightening:

• Cylinder head tightening is performed in a wave pattern. The following procedure is applied successively to bolts 1-2, then 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10.
• Loosen bolts 1-2 until fully released.
• Tighten bolts 1-2 to 2 daN.m, then turn them through an angle of 200°.
• Repeat the loosening and retightening operation for bolts 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10.

E7J ENGINE

Gasket pre-settling

Tighten all bolts to 2 daN.m, then turn them through an angle of 97° ± 2° in the order shown below.

Wait 3 minutes for stabilisation.

Cylinder head tightening:

• Cylinder head tightening is performed in a wave pattern. The following procedure is applied successively to bolts 1-2, then 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10.
• Loosen bolts 1-2 until fully released.
• Tighten bolts 1-2 to 2 daN.m, then turn them through an angle of 97° ± 2°.
• Repeat the loosening and retightening operation for bolts 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10.

F8Q ENGINE

Gasket pre-settling

Tighten all bolts to 3 daN.m, then turn them through an angle of 80° ± 4° in the order shown below.

Wait 3 minutes for stabilisation. Cylinder head tightening:

• Cylinder head tightening is performed in a wave pattern. The following procedure is applied successively to bolts 1-2, then 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10.
• Loosen bolts 1-2 until fully released.
• Tighten bolts 1-2 to 2.5 daN.m, then turn them through an angle of 213° ± 7°.
• Repeat the loosening and retightening operation for bolts 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10.
