Belt tension

- Sensor
- Display
- Connecting cord
- Calibration check blade
Principle
The sensor, via the pressure knob (1), the presser (2) and the outer pads (3), applies a constant deflection to the belt.
The belt reaction force is measured using a test body (4) fitted with strain gauges.
The stretching of the gauges causes a change in their electrical resistance. This change, once converted by the device, is shown on the display in SEEM units (US).
Calibrating the device
The device is set at the factory; however, its calibration must be checked every six months.
Procedure
Zero adjustment:
- switch the device on (button E) with the pressure knob (1) upside down,
- display 0, do not touch anything,
- no display, check the charge of the device's 9 volt battery,
- display a value other than 0, turn screw (F) until 0 is obtained.
Calibration check
Switch the device on (button E).
Position the reference spring blade (Z) on the sensor as shown in the drawing (check value engraved upward, (A) minimum value, (B) maximum value).
Tighten the pressure knob (1) until "CLICK - CLICK - CLICK".
Check that the display shows a value X between values (A and B) (A ≤ X ≤ B).
NOTE: Several preliminary tries may be needed to obtain the correct value.
If the value is still wrong after several tries, contact SEEM.
NOTE: Each device has its own reference spring blade, which is not interchangeable.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
- Do not refit a removed belt; replace it.
- Do not retension a belt whose tension value is between the fitting value and the minimum operating value.
- During an inspection, if the tension is below the minimum operating value, replace the belt.
