Glow plug control

~1min read

F9Q or K9K

The pre/post-heating function is managed by the injection ECU.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE OF PRE/POST-HEATING

1 - Ignition switched to "preheat"

a - Variable preheating

The warning lamp on time and the glow plug supply time depend on the coolant temperature and the battery voltage.

F9Q

Commande de pré-postchauffage

X: Time in seconds
Y: Coolant temperature in °C

In all cases, the preheat warning lamp time cannot exceed 12 seconds.

K9K

Commande de pré-postchauffage

X: Time in seconds
Y: Coolant temperature in °C

In all cases, the preheat warning lamp time cannot exceed 10 seconds (except in case of a coolant temperature sensor fault).

b - Fixed preheating

F9Q

After the warning lamp goes off, the glow plugs remain powered for a fixed time of 10 seconds.

K9K

After the warning lamp goes off, the glow plugs remain powered for a fixed time of 5 seconds.

2 - Starting

The glow plugs are powered while the starter motor is operating.
