General information
The Mégane II immobiliser is controlled by a badge authentication system with random rolling code (V3 encrypted).
The immobiliser system no longer has a recovery code, but instead has a repair code assigned to the vehicle for life during manufacture.
This system can have up to four badges. "Standard" and "hands-free" badges are different and cannot be used on a vehicle not equipped for them.
If a vehicle is lost or stolen, a badge can be deactivated. It can be reassigned to the same vehicle if necessary.
WARNINGWith this system, replacing several components at once (passenger compartment central unit and badge, or passenger compartment central unit and injection ECU) is not possible. These parts are sold uncoded.
When replacing a component, one of the system components must hold the vehicle's original code in memory (see component assignment table).
The code learned by the system components cannot be erased.
Note: The protection and switching unit is not coded. For specifics of the passenger compartment central unit and the protection and switching unit, see (Passenger compartment interconnection box chapter) and (Engine interconnection box chapter). For specifics of opening and closing of access points, see (Access management chapter).
The badges are fitted with an emergency key (1) allowing the door to be opened in the event of a system fault.
Badges supplied as spare parts are blank.
A protector is fitted in place of the emergency key.
Note: An emergency key can be ordered from the spare parts store, quoting the vehicle's security and identification numbers.Test yourself
