REMOVAL

  • This operation is carried out after removing the automatic gearbox and torque converter.
  • Remove the torque converter by pulling it out as far as possible without tilting it off axis.
WARNING

The torque converter contains a significant quantity of oil which may run out when removed.

  • Remove the seal using tool (Mot. 587), taking care not to scratch the mating surfaces.

INSTALLATION

WARNING
  • Work as cleanly as possible to prevent foreign matter entering the system.
  • Oil all mating surfaces.
  • Fit the new seal, pre-oiled, up to the stop using tool (Bvi. 1457).
  • Check that the torque converter is correctly seated.
  • Refit in the reverse order of removal.
