Towing
Before any towing, unlock the steering column: press the clutch pedal, engage first gear (selector in position N or R for automatic gearbox vehicles), insert the RENAULT card into the card reader, then press the engine start button for two seconds.
Move the lever to neutral (N for automatic gearbox). The steering column unlocks and the accessory functions are powered: you can use the vehicle lights (brake lights, hazard warning lights, etc.). At night the vehicle must be lit.
Once towing is complete, press the engine start button twice (risk of battery discharge).
Do not remove the RENAULT card from the reader during towing.Towing regulations in force must be strictly observed. If you are towing with your vehicle, do not exceed its maximum towable weight (refer to the “Weights” section in chapter 6).
Towing a vehicle with an automatic gearbox
With the engine off, the gearbox is no longer lubricated, so it is preferable to transport the vehicle on a flatbed truck or tow it with the front wheels raised.
Exceptionally, you may tow it with all four wheels on the ground, forward only, with the lever in neutral N and over a maximum distance of 80 km.

If the selector lever is locked in P while you press the brake pedal, the lever can be released manually. To do so, insert a rigid rod into hole 2, then press the rod and the release button 1 on the lever at the same time.
Use only:
- at the rear, towing point 5;
- at the front, towing eye 4 (located in the tool kit).
These towing points may only be used for towing: under no circumstances must they be used to lift the vehicle, directly or indirectly.
With the engine off, the power steering and brake assistance no longer work.
Access to the towing points
Unclip cover 3 or 6 by inserting a flat tool (or the key integrated into the RENAULT card) under the cover.
Screw towing eye 7 in fully: first by hand until it stops, then tighten it with the wheel brace.
Use only towing eye 7 and the wheel brace located under the boot floor in the tool kit (refer to “Tool kit” in chapter 5).

- Use a rigid towing bar. If a rope or cable is used (where permitted by law), the towed vehicle must be able to brake.
- Do not tow a vehicle whose roadworthiness is impaired.
- Avoid jerky acceleration and braking, which could damage the vehicle.
- In all cases, it is advisable not to exceed 50 km/h.
Never leave loose tools in the vehicle: they may be thrown forward during braking.Test yourself
