Description

The charging system includes the battery, an alternator with an integrated regulator, a charge indicator lamp, and wiring. The alternator has eight built-in diodes, each of which converts alternating current to direct current. Therefore, direct current appears at the alternator B terminal. In addition, the charging voltage of this alternator is regulated by the battery voltage detection system. The alternator is regulated by detecting the battery voltage. The main components of the alternator are the rotor, stator, rectifier, capacitor, brushes, bearings, and the poly-V belt pulley. The brush holder contains a built-in electronic voltage regulator.

Generator Control System

The alternator control system controls the charging voltage set point to improve fuel economy, manage alternator load under various operating conditions, keep the battery charged, and protect the battery from overcharging. The ECM controls voltage generation by duty cycle (charging control, discharging control, normal control) based on battery condition and vehicle operating conditions. The system performs discharging control during vehicle acceleration. The vehicle reduces alternator load and consumes battery power. The system performs charging control during vehicle deceleration. The vehicle increases alternator load and charges the battery.
