3. Lift the hood slightly, then raise the secondary latch (1) inside the hood. Center and lift the hood (2). Once it is raised approximately halfway, it will open fully on its own.
A warning message will appear on the LCD display when the hood is open.
The warning chime will sound when the vehicle is driven at speeds of 3 km/h or higher with the hood open.
Hood Closing
1. Before closing the hood, check the following:
- All engine compartment filler caps must be installed correctly.
- Gloves, rags, and any other flammable materials must be removed from the engine compartment.
2. Lower the hood to halfway (approximately 30 cm above the fully closed position) and press down to securely lock it in place. Then check twice to make sure the hood is secure.
WARNING
- Before closing the hood, make sure all obstacles around the hood opening area have been removed.
- Always check twice that the hood is securely latched before driving. Make sure the hood open warning light or message on the instrument cluster is not illuminated. If the hood is not latched while the vehicle is moving, a warning chime will sound to alert the driver that the hood is not fully closed. Driving with the hood open may cause a complete loss of visibility, which may result in an accident.
- Do not drive the vehicle with the hood raised. If the hood is not latched, it may fall or be damaged, and may cause an accident.
