Side Impact Sensor (SIS) Description and Operation

~1min read

Description

The Side Impact Sensor (SIS) system consists of two P-SIS sensors installed in the center of each front door module (left and right) and two G-SIS sensors installed on each center pillar (left and right). The side impact sensor is also called P-SIS because it detects the pressure caused by a collision at its installation location. The side impact sensor is also called G-SIS because it detects acceleration. The SRSCM determines airbag deployment and deployment timing through the SIS collision signal when a collision occurs.
